“Save A Twinkie Day”; Martin’s going fishing …

Hi, friends and readers:

The suicide of the gay student at Rutgers University, who was outed by his roommate using a webcam was truly sad. And it wasn’t the first such incident this year. I understand six young gay men ended their own lives so far this year, due to bullying. This sort of thing needs to stop. These boys/young men didn’t deserve such a fate.

I’m declaring today to be “Save A Twinkie Day.”  I’m calling on all gay men to offer support to our gay youth. Join PFLAG, donate to a gay youth organization in your community, or just serve as a mentor to a gay boy/young man. Be a role model by living responsibly and by not hiding in the closet. These kids need to know they can live happy lives, once they surround themselves with accepting, supportive friends.

Okay, I’ll climb down from the soap box now. It’s another beautiful fall day here in west central Florida. My boyfriend and I are going to our fishing camp for a few days. The weather should be optimal and hopefully we’ll catch fish to bring home. So, if you don’t see any posts on this blog the next few days, you’ll know why. There’s no Internet where the camp’s located, so you’ll have to get aong without my wonderful photos and commentary on life.

Have a nice Monday, everyone.
