Does everyone like this morning’s photo post? There’s something about sailboats that causes young men aboard to shed their clothing. I owned a 32-foot sailboat at one time, and I can tell you: a cruise strips away a guy’s inhibitions. I suppose it’s the sense of freedom sailing gives him. It’s quiet and smooth and the wind blows through his hair. If he’s out at sea, no one can see he’s naked, other than his shipmates. The whole thing can get pretty sexy. Why did I sell that boat, anyway?
I’m up fairly early today, after watching the Lightning lose to Boston last night, 1-0, in their final game of the playoffs. What a shame. But I try not to let the fortunes of my favorite teams dictate my mood. If they win, great. If they lose, so be it. Life goes on, doesn’t it?
My boyfriend’s not working today, so we’ll spend our Saturday together, mostly inside, to escape the sweltering heat outside. I walked out the front door to retrieve the newspaper, about 8:15 AM, and already the air was hot and sticky. I’ll spend the morning writing. Afternoon’s up for grabs. This evening, we’re going to our local greyhound track for a buffet dinner and betting on the doggies. It’s always a fun evening.
Road traffic was heavy on our little island yesterday. Many people rent rooms out here for the Memorial Day weekend. They bring their kids and beach umbrellas and their sunscreen. At some point today, we’ll take a walk on the beach and check out the sights. The shore will be packed, I’m sure.
Wherever you are, I hope you’re staying cool and enjoying your Saturday.
