Today was a big “beach day” in our area. The cooler, dryer weather brought out the throngs. Guys were everywhere, in their boardshorts. Alas, none were naked like the young man who appears in tonight’s photo post. It’s such a shame Americans are so modesty about their bodies. Especially guys with butts like his. Aye-yi-yi.
It’s been a good day. We got our shopping done: dive bag for our snorkeling gear and spear, a small tackle box for fishing, and a Styrofoam cooler we’ll pack with frozen pork, chicken and beef, along with a block of dry ice. They don’t have decent meat in the out islands of The Bahamas, so smart folks “bring their own.”
Tonight’s all about football, beer, and food. In the case of food, that means marinated ribs on the charcoal grille, a Southern specialty. The ribs have been soaking in a mixture of red wine, olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, and molasses. I thre in a few spices, as well. The coals are burning and soon I’ll be stationed on the patio, keeping an eye on things. It’s so beautiful outside — breezy and sunny and about 82 degrees. Perfect!
Once the ribs are sizzling, we’ll walk to the beach to watch sunset. It’s should be a good one. On weekends, especially, the neighbors all gather down there to watch and share one another’s company. It’s a tradition on this island.
Have a nice Saturday night, all. And, Go Gators!
