I’ve always had a thing for dark-haired guys; I don’t know why. Sure, blond guys have their charms, but I’ll take a guy with brown or black hair and dark eyes, any day. It’s a personal taste. So, I found this evening’s photo post especially appealing. What do you think?
It’s three AM, here on the island, and I am wide awake after going to bed last night around ten PM. I’ve been having this problem recently — falling asleep early, then waking up in the wee hours — and it’s frustrating. One of my favorite writers, Michael Chabon, calls it “the midnight disease.” It often afflicts writers. And about the only thing a writer can do is get out of bed, pour himself a glass of wine, and write until he gets sleepy. That’s what I’m doing right now.
Last night, a cold front swept into central Florida. The temperature dropped into the low 60s and a stiff wind blew. It’s still blowing right now; I can hear it tossing the fronds on my coconut palms about. My boyfriend’s fast asleep and I don’t want to wake him. So, I’ll tap away at the keyboard until I’m ready for bed. Hey, it’s not so bad. Things are dead quiet and I can concentrate.
Last night’s gathering in the city went off well. Five of us shared drinks and snacks, along with “animated” conversation. The subject of the “Occupy Wall Street” movement took center stage for a bit. I must say I’m encouraged by the anger being voiced up there in NYC, and in other cities. I’m a bit weary of the “let them eat cake” attitude displayed by hedge fund managers and investment bankers. These people drove our economy to the brink of disaster, and now they’re repeating the same mistakes. It’s all about greed and arrogance. Meanwhile, average Americans struggle just to pay the bills and keep their health insurance. Great, just great …..
Okay, I guess I’ll get busy with my writing. Wherever you are, I hope it’s not too cold and windy. Stay warm and happy, friends.
