BDSM … what’s it all about? Breezy Sunday on the island …

Hi, friends and readers:

What do you think of this morning’s photo post? It brings to mind a short novel I wrote, titled Passion Play. In the story, a gay Protestant minister, Reverend Luke, becomes involved in the lives of two brothers, Marcus and James Thibodeaux, pari-shioners who dabble in the world of BDSM. Here’s something Reverend Luke has to say, at the outset of the story:

“I look at the chained young man and I try to imagine his suffering, the humiliation and disgrace he must feel. I have never understood sadomasochism. I ask myself: Why does he submit? And what’s the pleasure in whipping him? Swinging my gaze to the other young man, I raise my eyebrows and shake my head. Moments later, when I’m climbing the basement stairs, leather strikes naked flesh anew. The blow sounds like a pistol shot and the prisoner cries out. His feet dance in his puddle while his chains jingle, merry as a Christmas sleigh.”

Passion Play was released nearly three years ago. It immediately became a hit, and it continues to sell briskly at the Torquere Press website today. Here’s the link if you want to have a look:

I watched two dreadful football games yesterday: UF versus Georgia and Wisconsin versus Ohio State. Both my teams lost, mainly because of stupid mistakes. The Gators looked like total bumblers, yet they only lost by four points. Come on, guys: discipline yourselves, will you? By the end of the seoncd game, I was ready for bed.

I slept in until nine AM this morning. Outside, it’s sunny and cool and a pretty stiff breeze is blowing from the northeast; it’s too windy to bicycle, so I’ll probably take a walk for exercise, sometime later this morning. My boyfriend worked last night. Then he attended a party that lasted till the wee hours, so he’s in the bedroom snoozing. (He looks so cute between the sheets ….)

Have a nice Sunday, everyone.
