Do you like this morning’s photo post as much as I do? It reminds me so much of my college days, when I shared a beat-up apartment with two or three other guys. The bathroom was always a mess — stuff hanging out of drawers, the counter strewn with toothpaste tubes and hairbrushes, wet towels on the floor. You know what I mean, don’t you? Anyway, once in a while, one of my roomies and I would end up sharing a bed for the night. It always made for an interesting morning after. (“Man, how much did I drink last night?”)
It rained like hell early this morning, around 5:00 AM. I’ve just returned from my morning walk on the beach; I had to wear a rain jacket, but mainly to protect me from the breeze. It didn’t actually rain while I was down there. I was the only person on the beach, other than a cop who passed me in his Jeep and waved. I enjoyed the solitude, actually. It gave me time to think about recent events, and about things I need to accomplish in the months ahead.
Speaking of … several months ago, I submitted a story titled My Friend Zeke to Cleis Press for their upcoming anthology, Sexy Sailors. My story takes place in Eleuthera, in the Bahamas. Yesterday I was notified by the editor, Neil Placky, that my story was accepted, with very few edits required. Neil’s a terrific editor; I’ve worked with him on several projects, so I’m happy he liked my story. The book will likely come out in early 2012.
This morning, I’ll work on My Friend Zeke, then move on to edits on my novel, Dodging a Pearl. This afternoon, my boyfriend and I will visit the YMCA for our usual workout routine. With the dreary weather outside, it’ll be nice to exercise indoors. I sure love swimming laps in the pool. I’m not sure what we’ll do this evening. I doubt we’ll have many trick-or-treaters, but we’ll have candy bars available and a carved pumpkin on our front porch.
Have a nice Halloween, everyone.
