I’m a sucker for a guy with a beautiful smile, and I think the young men in today’s photo posts are especially appealing. Don’t you agree? The boy in the top photo reminds me so much of my fraternity brother Jerry, who was one of my best friends my sophomore year of college. Of course, he had a beautiful smile, but he also had these huge, cola-colored eyes that made me feel light-headed whenever I gazed into them. And he was the gentlest guy, almost to the point of shyness. Jerry, where are you today? Are you still as beautiful as you were back then?
It’s Saturday, and it’s mid-August. We are having an especially hot month, and today there are no clouds. By noon, the temperature will reach 95 degrees F, way too hot for most any outdoors activity but one: tubing down a spring-fed Florida river.
In a few minutes, we’ll load up the Element, and then we’ll drive northward 90 minutes or so, where we’ll rent tubes. We’ll spend a couple of hours floating down the Rainbow River, a crystal-clear stream with a temperature around 75 degrees. We’ll take sandwiches and a cooler of beer, and we’ll beat the heat. What could be better?
I’m not sure what we’ll do with our evening, maybe cook burgers on the charcoal grill and take a moonlit stroll on the beach, afterward. That sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone.
