Several years ago, I corresponded regularly with a young man, a high school senior in a rural area of northern Illinois. We always shared personal information, and one night I asked him what he wore to bed at night. This was wintertime, and he told me, “I wear sleep pants.”
I said, “Sleep what?”
Then he explained to me how guys up north often wear flannel pants akin to pajama bottoms, along with a t-shirt, when they go to sleep during the cold months. Of course, we really don’t have any use for sleep pants in Florida, where we run the air conditioner about eight months out of the year.
Have a look at the young man to the left. I really can’t figure out what is going on in the photo, can you? He seems to be perched on a stairway railing with rolls of toilet paper to his right, and his sleep pants puled half-way down his butt. Weird stuff, I know, but kind of sexy too.
I played one of my worst rounds of golf in memory this morning. Sometimes I wonder why I keep playing the game. But the day was sunny and beautiful, so the round wasn’t a total loss. After lunch, I took my three-mile walk on the beach, which was nice despite a steady wind coming out of the northwest. I wore a jacket and sweatpants, so I kept warm. Needless to say, very few people were at the beach, due to cold conditions, but I actually saw one guy bathing in the Gulf, no joke. He was probably Canadian.
I’m home now, enjoying a cold beer. I’m not sure what we’ll do this evening, maybe watch a Netflix rental, I don’t know. But at least it’s warm in our house. Have a nice Monday night, friends.
