Did you think I’d forgotten you guys when I didn’t post this morning? Nonsense, I would never fail to think of you, but my boyfriend and I decided to spend our day enjoying the beauty of coastal Florida in winter. The weather was perfect here today: sunny, dry, and cool. We visited a spring where about ten manatees were enjoying the warm water. We rented a canoe from the county park, and then we canoed for about 2-1/2 hours on one of Florida’s prettiest rivers. Beside the manatees, we saw all sorts of birds: pelicans, anhingas, cormorants, egrets and herons. Few boats were on the river, and the colors were so pretty. I know it sounds strange, canoeing in January, but this is one our nicest months in Florida. We had a wonderful day, and now we’re home, feeling refreshed and ready for a nice evening.
Do you like the black-and-white photos I’ve posted here tonight as much as I do? I especially like the guy in the top photo; he has such an athletic build, and I love the way the photographer posed him, as well as the lighting used. He’s a total babe. I wonder if he has a boyfriend?
It’s not too cold here tonight, and I think we have a plan for the duration of our day. I’ll prepare spaghetti and salad for our dinner, and then we’ll visit our timeshare down the street, to soak in the hot tub. It’s a great way to spend a winter evening, here on our island. The timeshare keeps to pool and spa spotless, and there’s hardly anyone using the amenities in the evening. We might even get in a bit of smooch time if we have the facility to ourselves, and we probably will.
You know, it’s this kind of day that reminds me how lucky I am to live on Florida’s Gulf Coast, where we are surrounded by the beauty of nature. When we launched our canoe into the spring this afternoon, an adolescent manatee came right up to us. He was so cute I wanted to pet him on his snout, but that’s not legal, and we have to respect these creature’s space, so I only blew him a kiss.
Have a nice Monday night, friends.
