You guys know how much I like black-and-white photography. It’s been a long while since I produced a “theme weekend” on this site, and so I’ve decided to post only black-and-white art today and tomorrow. I’ve saved a little portfolio of pictures I know you’ll enjoy, and this morning I’m posting two of my favorites.
The photo to the left stole my breath when I first saw it. I like everything about it: the young man’s beauty (Look that butt.), the lighting, and the way the model is posed. The tilt of his head and the expression on his face suggest he’s been startled by something unexpected. Maybe he didn’t anticipate company while he wandered about the house naked with his shoes in his hands? Or maybe his boyfriend came home from work early?
I rose early this morning, around 7:30, and when I stuck my head out the front door, I breathed a sigh of relief. The air temperature was actually comfortable and no rain fell. I slipped into track pants and a sweatshirt, and then I took a three-mile walk on the beach. Okay the sky was overcast, but the wind was not blowing and the Gulf was as calm as a mirror. By the time I returned ot my house, the sun came out, and now my doors and windows are open. It’s going to be a beautiful day.
A good friend I have known forever is living in a nursing home right now. In a couple of hours I will buy Cuban sandwiches at the market down the street, and then I’ll take them to the nursing home so we can share lunch together. Okay, the nursing home’s a depressing place, but I love my friend and I don’t like seeing him sitting in that place all by himself, eating crappy food. So I’ll make the drive into the city and we’ll spend 90 minutes talking about the state of the world.
As a reward, I’ll visit a golf course to hit balls on the driving range, and maybe practice my putting. I’m so glad I can do something outdoors today. Goodbye bad weather …. Have a nice Saturday, everyone.
