Have a look at the guy to the left. Okay. some of you might think he’s too skinny, but not me. I think he’s close to physical perfection, and I like the way his boardshorts ride low on his hips. I wonder if he even knew this photo was taken? And I wonder who the guy was who took it?
If you follow this website, then you know I only returned to Florida this past Saturday, after spending ten days in British Columbia. I had 1-1/2 days to get my laundry done and get myself re-packed. Then, yesterday, my boyfriend and I loaded up the Element for a driving trip to northern Wisconsin, where we like to spend a week or so each summer, to escape Florida’s heat. We drove about six hours, to the Atlantic coast, and right now we are in Savannah, GA, a very old and beautiful port city that made its money exporting cotton before the Civil War.
The older part of Savannah, where we are staying, is a collection of beautiful buildings dating back as far as the 1700s. Many are built of granite, which exists in abundance in Georgia. The city features a series of “squares” laid out by the British when this was a colony, and these have been preserved. They are like mini-parks, with towering live oaks draped with Spanish moss. People here are friendly and welcoming to strangers.
We are staying just down the street from City Hall and the Cotton Exchange, two very beautiful buildings. Last night, we enjoyed a tasty “low country” meal, along with local craft beer. Then we turned in pretty early because we have a ten-hour drive ahead of us today. Right after breakfast, we’ll hit the road northward. Our destination today is Columbus, OH, a city I have never visited, but I’m told they have an authentic German village with real Bavarian beer and cuisine. Since both my boyfriend and I are of German descent, I think we’ll like Columbus, but we’ll see.
Have a nice Tuesday, everyone, wherever you might be today.
