This morning, while I took my three-mile walk on the beach, a pair of boys who looked to be seventeen or eighteen, cruised past me, wearing only running shorts and running shoes. Both were sweating buckets, and when they finally reached the end of the island, they dove into the Gulf to cool down after their run. Watching them, I was reminded of the two photos I’ve posted here this morning. Do you like them as much as I do?
I did enjoy me walk immensely, and not just because of the two runners. The temperature was actually comfortable. I encountered very few people, and the Gulf was calm. I’ve been having trouble with one of my knees after doing a lot of hiking over the summer in British Columbia, Wisconsin, and Maine. I’ve been icing the knee every day for the past ten days, and it seems to be getting better. Here’s a tip from Martin, guys: don’t get old, not if you like to stay physically active like I do.
Last night, after my boyfriend and I finished watching a Netflix rental, he went to bed and I took a drink up on our new deck, which now has an operable ceiling fan and lighting. It was beautiful up there, so cool and breezy. And since the hour was late, almost midnight, things were very quiet. I think we’re going to use the deck a lot in the years ahead, and I’m really glad we had it built, despite all the hassles we encountered along the way.
I have a lot on my plate today. I’ve already finished work on my new novel for the day. After I finish this post I have to meet with a tile setter who needs to perform a little corrective work on a job he did for me back in May. I also received my first edits on from my editor on a Young Adult novel I’ll have coming our in December, so that wil consume a large part of my afternoon.
Thursday night are an easy night for my boyfriend since he only has one class on Fridays. I’m cooking Mexican for dinner tonight, and then we’ll watch the Green Bay Packers play their first regular season game against Seattle. I’ll cheer for the Packers — I even have a genuine Packers jersey — but I am awfully fond of Seattle’s quarterback, who I think is the cutest player in the entire NFL. That’s Russell’s photo to the left.
Are football players even supposed to be cute? Maybe not, but I sure think Russell is a hottie. I wonder if he has a boyfriend?
Anyway, I need to get busy. There is much to do and not a lot of time to do it, so I will close this post by wishing everyone a wonderful Thursday. Just think, the weekend’s almost here.
