If you follow this site, then you know I visit Florida’s East Coast once in a while to surf with my boyfriend. There’s really no decent surf on the Gulf Coast, but one sport popular here is skimboarding. I had skimboard when I was in high school, and that was a long time ago. Mine was made from plywood cut into a circle about three feet in diameter and it never really worked too well.
Today’s skimboards are far more sophisticated, and the sport has gotten very competitive. Once a year, guys from various Florida universities converge on our island for a weekend-long competition, and the sights are, to say the least, stellar. Dozens of guys like the two in today’s photo posts wander about in their boardshorts and nothing else. Oh, and sometimes I actually watch the contests, too. 😉
I crashed early last night, woke up early this morning. I worked on edits to my upcoming novel for a couple of hours, and then I read the Sunday newspaper.
It’s going to be a quiet Sunday for me and my boyfriend. He has to study and I’ll do some more reading so I don’t disturb him while he works. Outside, the sky is overcast and there’s no breeze, very muggy conditions that I don’t care for. But maybe I’ll walk to the shore in case any guys are skimboarding. There usually are a few every time I walk the beach on the weekend, so maybe I’ll get lucky.
I’m not sure what’s up with our evening today. I’ll cook dinner for us this evening, and maybe we’ll visit our timeshare down the road fro a swim in the pool. It’s a nice thing to do on a September evening, and there are rarely any other people present. I think the moon’s almost full, which makes for a nice sight then we swim.
Have a nice Sunday, friends, wherever you might be today.
