I doubt many of you have ever heard of an American stage and film actor named Brandon De Wilde, whose photo you see to the left. He was a beautiful guy and pretty good at his craft. Sadly, in 1972 he died at the age of thirty, in a road accident. I have no idea if he was straight or gay. At this point, does it matter?
I had a huge crush on De Wilde when I was twelve years old, and that crush inspired me to write a short story titled Dr. Fungo’s Amazing Time Machine. The story appears in my new anthology titled Supernatural Love, and I really love the way it turned out. Here’s an excerpt:

He says, “Don’t tell me you drove all the way from Boulder just to see my play.”
“It’s true,” I say. “I’ve always wanted to meet you in person.”
He crinkles his forehead. “Why?”
Blood rushes to my cheeks, and then I lower my gaze. All my life, in these type situations, I have been a chicken shit, a guy without balls. How many opportunities have I passed up in my life, just because I lacked the courage to take a risk? I think, Andre, go on; this is your only chance. Tell him.
I raise my chin, and then I look into De Wilde’s amazing eyes.
“You’re the best-looking guy I’ve ever seen. I was hoping we might . . . you know.”
De Wilde holds my gaze but his eyebrows gather. I sense he may grow angry, and who could blame him? Here I am, stranger asking for an autograph. He was kind enough to walk to my hotel, to grant my request, and now I’m asking him for sex?
He says, “What makes you think I’d do something like that? Did someone tell you I—”
“Nobody told me anything. I was just hoping.”
He looks away, glancing here and there, and then he looks back at me. “You’re not the first guy who’s asked. Ever since I was twelve, men have been after me.”

I won’t spoil the story by including any more of its contents, but there’s a pretty sexy scene many of you might enjoying reading. 😉
It’s a pretty fall day outdoors, and I have just returned from the supermarket. Now the fridge is stocked and I’m about ready for lunch. There is a strong breeze coming from the east today, the direct result of a hurricane churning in the Atlantic. It’s too breezy for me to ride my bike on the island, so I’ll visit the YMCA to swim some laps after lunch. The pool there is never crowded on Thursday afternoons, so I shouldn’t have trouble getting a lap lane.
I’m not sure what’s in store for my evening, maybe a trip out timeshare down the street for a soak in the hot tub? It’s a nice thing to do on a cool October night. Have a nice Thursday, everyone.
