Th world of BDSM. Why does it fascinate us so?

bound #1Hi, friends and readers:

Years ago, my story titled Serving Lisa was published in a Noble Romance anthology titled Spank Me Once. My story contained some very brutal and graphic scenes, as my main character, Lane, a college student, learned to serve his masters, Lisa and her husband, Andreas. The book sold like crazy, until Noble Romance closed its doors.

Then I published a novella, Passion Play. Here’s the book’s blurb, or summary:

“Reverend Luke helps put on the Passion Play at his church every year. Nearly eighty parishioners get involved, and this year brothers James and Marcus Thibodeaux will be participate. James will play Jesus, but there’s a hitch; he’s deaf, so Marcus will act as translator.

“James is beautiful and young–almost angelic in appearance–and just the person to portray Jesus. Or is he?

“When Reverend Luke begins a sexual relationship with Marcus, he learns things about James that are hardly angelic. Can Reverend Luke convince James to be penitent and worthy of portraying Jesus?”

In Passion Play, Reverend Luke enters into sadomasochistic relationships with both the Thibodeaux brothers, and the BDSM scenes in the book are also quite brutal and graphic. Again, the book has sold quite well, and it continues to now.

Why are readers drawn to books about the dark and often mysterious world of leather and chains? I’m really not sure, but I think there’s something about surrendering your freedom to a dom, or having a sub surrender his will to you, that folks find deeply erotic.

bound #2I’m hosting dinner guests tonight, and I need to get busy in the kitchen so the meal gets on the table on time. I hope everyone had a good Tuesday, at work or school or whatever. Now, have yourselves a relaxing evening, guys.

  1. Martin,

There are so many aspects in an realtionship between master and sub as wel in the feelings of the sub him- or herself. Indeed letting prevail of the will of the master over yours can be very exciting, but also just the feelings of your body: tension when you are tied up, the scratching of nails on your skin, the heat of candlegrease dripping upon you, the sound of chains, to be shown in public, being whipped. I myself (I am a sub) like to be dominated in every way. Following the orders of the master and submitting to all he or she wants to do with me, including sexual tasks. And, on the other hand, you like to please the Dom, as you like to please your partner in an vanilla relationship.

Well, Martin, I have followed your blog now for some time and like it. I hope you will continue with it.
Wish you a wonderfull Wednesday (I suppose it is about ten in the morning over there)

    • Hello, Henri:

Thanks so much for writing, and for sharing your experience with BDSM. I would never question a person’s right to engage in a BDSM relationship, either as a sub or dom, as long as it brings them sexual and/or emotional fulfillment. I’m glad you enjoy my website, and I’ll try to post more BDSM-themed photos in the future.

      Martin
