I like the look of a sexy young man who is shirtless and wearing a backpack. And I like the look of a naked young man wearing a backpack even more. Aye-yi-yi, the guy to the left looks very enticing, doesn’t he?
I rose at eight AM today. I slipped into shorts, a t-shirt, and flip-flops, and then I headed for the beach for my usual three-mile walk. It was beautiful down there: cool and sunny, with only the lightest of breezes. The Gulf was calm, and I watched a brown pelican dive-bomb a pod of bait fish for his breakfast, a lovely sight.
For a while a fog bank settled over the island during my return trek to the house, but now it has burned off and the sun is shining again. I’ve just finished working on my novel-in-progress and I had a productive session.
When I write fiction, I am what they call a “pantser”, i.e., I don’t outline a story before I write it. In fact, I never know how the story will unfold or how it will end. I’ve had writers tell me there’s “no way” they could write a novel that way, but it works for me. I think it allows my creative side to take over the story. And oftentimes I find my characters telling me what to write., I know that sounds weird, but it’s true.
By the way, isn’t the guy to the left handsome? I have a feeling he’s European; he has that look about him. He also doesn’t seem too happy about being photographed. (“Why is that guy taking my picture? I don’t even have a shirt on.”) 😉
This will be a typical Monday for me. I’ll share lunch with my boyfriend. Then he’ll go to class and I will visit the YMCA for a full workout and lap-swimming in the indoor pool. It’s a great way to get exercise, plus I get to see all my friends there.
Have a great Monday, everyone.
