Well, I did as I said I would: I went to be around 10:30 last night so I could get a good night’s sleep and be ready to surf this morning. I got up at seven, just before sunrise. But when I walked to the dune crossover there were no waves. 🙁
It’s okay because I also discovered why I was feeling so crappy on the drive over here yesterday. I was actually sick and not just hungover. I know this because this morning I was still feeling fatigued, and then my throat got scratchy, a sure sign that a cold might be on its way. I decided to take things easy and see how I felt in the afternoon.
I did take a three-mile walk on the beach this morning, after I at the hotel’s breakfast offerings. It was beautiful down there and I really enjoyed myself despite feeling a bit under the weather. After my walk I did a bit of work, and then I visited a surf shop to buy a short-sleeved, white rash guard. It’s too warm here for wearing a wetsuit, which took me totally by surprise, and I didn’t think to bring my old rash guard, so now I have two. I grabbed lunch, and then I drove down the Melbourne Beach on A-1-A, a real pretty drive at this time of year.
Now I’m back in my hotel room and feeling a little better, so maybe I can get out on the water around four PM when the tides a medium height. Have a nice Tuesday, everyone.
