I grew up in west central Florida. We don’t have ice here, except in our freezers and ice coolers. So I never developed an interest in ice hockey while growing up.
My boyfriend, however, grew up in Wisconsin. He played organized hockey almost all of his adolescence and he loves the sport. We have an NHL team in our area, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Their arena is in Tampa. The Lightning are in the middle of the second round of the NHL playoffs. They are up 2-0 in their round against Montreal, and tonight is game #3. They have to win four games in this round to advance. The question is: will they? We’ll soon find out.
I don’t know if the guy in the upper photo I’ve posted here is really a hockey player or not, but that’s a hockey stick he’s clutching and he’s wearing “breezers”, those bulky pants hockey players wear. Anyway, I think he’s pretty damned cute, although his haircut looks about ten years out of style. I’ll forgive the haircut.
I’ve had a nice afternoon. After lunch I took a three-mile beach walk. Then I came home and performed some research on where to buy items for the boat we’re going to purchase this summer. I also spent an hour or so working outside, cleaning off our patios, cleaning the patio furniture, re-potting an orchid plant, and watering all our houseplants.
Now I’m freshly showered and ready for a relaxing evening. I’ll saute cubed chicken breast in a vegetable sauce and serve it to myself over pasta. I’ll make a garden salad to go with it, and then I’ll watch the hockey game. My favorite Lightning player is their goalie, Ben Bishop. He’s kinda cute and he’s a damned fine goalie.
Have a nice Wednesday night, friends. Go Lightning!
