Ever take a long-distance trip by auto with your boyfriend? It can be a lot of fun, spending long periods of time with each other, with little to do but fool around like the guys in the photo to the left. Actually, playing “feel-you-up” is only one of the activities we enjoy. We do crossword puzzles. We make side-trips to see points of interest. (One year we visited Elvis’ birthplace, Lincoln’s birthplace, and the Harry S. Truman presidential library in Independence, MO. The side trip were as interesting as our final destination — a fishing camp in a remote area of northwest Wisconsin, where we spent a week.
Look, travel, in my opinion, is about the most enriching thing you can do for yourself, and it’s even better when you share it with your boyfriend. We try to take several trips each year, sometimes by plane, sometimes by car.
I was a good boy this morning. I rose at 7:30 to take my usual three-mile walk on the beach, which was especially beautiful today. The sky was overcast, the air still, and almost no one was at the beach. Huge pods of fish were swimming close to shore, and the pelicans were dive-bombing them for breakfast, very cool stuff to watch. I took a quick dip in the Gulf, and then I headed home to shower.
I spent the bulk of my morning editing my novel-in-progress, which is getting close to completion. It’s a 134,000-word book, which is pretty large for a novel, but I have a hunch I’ll be able to find an agent to market it to publishers for me. It’s what is called a “mainstream novel.” It’s not aimed at a gay audience, and it does;t have any sexually explicit scenes. But it does have several interesting characters and a good amount of humor.
In abut an hour, after I eat lunch, I’ll head into the city t visit the YMCA for a workout and lap-swimming, and then I’ll hit the wine market on the way home. Wednesday is always a big study night for my boyfriend, so we’ll spend a quiet evening at home tonight.
Have a nice Wednesday, everyone.
