In Florida we adore our swimming pools, whether the pool belongs to us or whether we share the pool with others. Its so warm here five months out of the year that bathing in a pool is often the only outdoor activity one can do without getting heat stroke. I’ve owned three swimming pools over the years, and I loved each of them, but they are expensive, not just to build but to maintain. The pump uses a lot of electricity, the pool uses lots of chemicals, and the pool has to be brushed and vacuumed weekly.
Now we own a timeshare about a mile from here where we can use the pool, hot tub, and sauna any time we like. And someone else does all the work. The pool and hot tub a always sparkling clean, and most evenings when we go down there we are the only people there. Of course, I wouldn’t mind if the guy in the top photo joined us. 😉
I was up late last night, after attending a birthday party at the beach and then dining out with my good friend who had just returned from a vacation in Cuba. I spent a good deal of the evening asking him questions, as I’ve always wanted to visit Cuba myself. By the time I got to bed it was past midnight, and as a result I didn’t get up this morning until nine AM. This meant I didn’t get my walk on the beach in, but that’s okay. I’m going to spend a few hours working in the yard today, trimming bushes, mulching flower beds, and fertilizing shrubberies. I don’t mind, since the weather isn’t so hot and humid anymore.
Tonight is our island’s quarterly street festival, which is only five blocks from my house. There will be a live band, beer and food vendors, and craft artisans selling their wares. The weather should be beautiful, and I’m looking forward to going.
Have a nice Saturday, everyone.
