BDSM: why does it fascinate us so?

bdsm #1Hi, friends and readers:

Several years ago I wrote a short novel titled Passion Play. Here’s the blurb for the book:

“Reverend Luke helps put on the Passion Play at his church every year. Nearly eighty parishioners get involved, and this year brothers James and Marcus Thibo-deaux, will participate. James will play Jesus, but there’s a hitch; James is deaf. Marcus will act as translator. James is beautiful and young — almost angelic in appearance — and just the person to portray Jesus. Or is he? When Reverend Luke begins a sexual relationship with Marcus, he discovers things about James that are hardly angelic. Can Reverend Luke convince James to be penitent and worthy of portraying Jesus?”

bdsm #7Passion Play con-tinues to sell quite well, even several years after its initial release, I think because gay men have a certain fascination with the world of BDSM, whether it’s fantasizing about submission to another guy’s will, or dreaming of dominating another man completely. I think we all have a bit of kink in us when it comes to BDSM; I know I do. I’ve engaged in some pretty serious role-playing and it can be interesting as long as it’s consensual.

bdsm #4I took my three-mile walk on the beach about 7:45 this morning, and conditions were just perfect down there: cool, sunny and still. I spent 90 minutes working on my story-in-progress, and right after I complete this post I will begin packing up my car for this weekend’s visit to our fishing camp. I’m picking up my boyfriend’s brother at the airport late this afternoon, and then we will rendezvous with my boyfriend near the airport, for the trip northward. The weather will be beautiful this weekend, and maybe we’ll even catch some fish. 🙂

I won’t post again until Sunuday afternoon, so have a great weekend, everyone.
