Last night, after my boyfriend finished studying, we watched a Netflix rental titled Beyond the Walls. Here’s a description of the film:
“Paulo, a young pianist, meets Ilir, a bartender and bass guitar player originally from Albania. They become lovers. Confronted by his girlfriend Anka, Paulo finds himself out on the street. Despite Ilir’s misgivings, Paulo moves in with him. One day, when Paulo promises that he will love Ilir for the rest of his life, Ilir leaves the city and doesn’t return. A few days later, Paulo finds out that Ilir is in jail, and their relationship faces unexpected challenges.”
We thoroughly enjoyed this film, and you might too, but be forewarned. It’s a French film with subtitles. The pacing is slower than U.S.-made movies, the acting more subtle, the scenery modest. There are no sexually explicit scenes, either. But the acting is good and so is the script. The story is quite believable, and the main characters are sexy in their own way. Don’t expect physical perfection, but I found Matila Malliarakis, who you see to the left here, extremely appealing. Okay, his teeth are a bit crooked and his grooming isn’t the best, but who cares?
Anyway, if you want to check out Beyond the Walls you can do so here:
It’s another chilly, windy, and overcast day, here in central Florida. I spent my morning doing edits on my novel-in-progress. The first draft is done and now it’s polishing time. Now noon is approaching and it’s time for lunch. Since today is Wednesday I will drive into town to visit the YMCA for a full workout and lap-swimming.
Have a nice Wednesday, everyone, wherever you are.
