I live in a beach community. Over the past fifteen years board shorts have been all the rage when it comes to swimwear for young men. Hey, I own a few pairs of boardshorts myself. But now it seems boardshorts are on their way out. Last Spring Break I noticed a lot of college boys had moved to swim trunks that were shorter, like maybe mid-thigh.
I have mixed feelings about the demise of boardshorts. On one hand, because I like to surf I will continue to own boardshorts. They have a function, you see. But when it comes to sexiness, boardshorts don’t really get it. They cover up too much flesh. In fact you might say they are emblematic of male Americans’ over-the-top modesty when it comes to their bodies.
Anyway, I still think a guy can look pretty hot in boardshorts if he has the right body, so I am putting up two of my favorite boardshorts photos this morning. Do you like them as much as I do?. The two guys in the photos look like polar opposites, don’t they? The one in the upper photo looks like a rebel, and probably gets terrible grades in school if he hasn’t already dropped out. he guy in the lower photo looks like a Prom King who makes the Dean’s List every quarter. Which one would you rather spend an evening with?
The burgers I grilled last night turned out perfect. We had a great meal, and then we watched a Matt Damon film titled The Martian, which was okay but nothing to write home about, as they say. We came home and crashed into bed right after the movie ended. I was tired as hell; I’m not sure why, and this morning I slept until 10:30, which is something I rarely do.
Right now my boyfriend is slaving away on a paper he has to complete for one of his classes. Me? I have to work on my bookshelf-painting project for a good long while this afternoon; it’ll keep me busy most of the day. Somewhere along the line I’ll take a three-mile walk, here on the island, for a little exercise, and maybe I’ll check out the boys in the beach in their swim trunks or boardshorts. Yeah, the temperature’s below 70 degrees F and the wind is blowing, but it’s Sunday and the sun is shining, and young men can’t resist hanging out at the shore with their shirts off. I love living on a Gulf Coast barrier island. 😉
Okay, everyone, I need to get busy painting, so I will wish all of you a pleasant Sunday, wherever you might be.
