Florida, where I have lived all my life, is a state surrounded by water. And I live on an island as well, so I am completely surrounded by water. The Intracoastal Waterway is only thirty yards from my front door. And boating is huge in this area of the state. People love getting out on the water, especially young men who wriggle out of their clothing and strut around wearing nothing but swim trunks. It makes for interesting sights form my observation deck. 🙂
I watched a Netflix movie last night, and then I went to bed to read for a bit. I’m starting Michael Chabon’s latest novel, and I already know I’m going to love it because Chabon is my favorite fiction writer. He can write circles around me, but I don’t mind. Some people are born geniuses and the rest of us have to admire and respect them for their inborn skills.
Anyway, I think I fell asleep around 10:30 last night, which meant I woke before seven this morning. Instead of trying to go back to sleep I dragged my butt out of bed, and after a quick breakfast I got busy editing my novel-in-progress, a 60,000-word book I’m starting to like more and more.
Now it’s 10:30 AM and I am done with edits for the day. After I shave and make my bed I’ll take a three-mile walk on the beach, and then return home for lunch. I am going up to my fishing camp tomorrow, to spend a couple of nights, and my afternoon will be consumed by preparations for the trip. I’l hit the wine market and the supermarket. I’ll gas up my car and fill a propane tank, and then I’ll pack for the trip. Because the camp’s in a remote place, it’s important I take everything I will need, so packing takes a while.
Outside, the sun is shining, the air is still, and the temperature’s around 72 degrees, perfect winter weather in central Florida. I know I’m going to enjoy my beach walk today, and also the two-mile run I will take around four PM. All right, everyone, I need to get busy, so I’ll close this post by wishing you all a wonderful Tuesday.
