I adore good black-and-white photography, so I am posting two I just came across yesterday that I really like, especially this on to the left. Sure, the young man is beautiful, but I like the way the photograph captured the model doing something as mundane as preparing to brush his teeth. It gives the viewer a feeling that he’s part of this boy’s everyday life. And there’s nothing pretentious about the room he’s in: chipped paint, cluttered vanity, stuff spilling out of the drawer in the background. Perfect ….
Well, I spent a very pleasant evening in the city with my old friend. We shared a few beers and dined on Greek takeout. A huge rainstorm rolled into town and cooled everything down. After dinner I came home and I didn’t stay up very long; I just went to bed and read for an hour, then fell asleep.
The photo to the left here is over forty years old, but it doesn’t look it, does it? The boy in the photo reminds me of a friend I attended college with. Same facial features, same build, same hair. And yes, we had a sexual relationship for about six months. Hank, where are you today?
In about a half-hour I will hop in the Element to buy live shrimp at a bait shop, here on the island. I’ll hit the supermarket to buy bags of ice, and then return home to do the final packing for our trip to the fishing camp.
Okay, the weather going to be hot and humid, but a little sweating’s not such a bad thing. I’ll take a nice outdoor shower each evening. We have plenty of beer, wine and vodka, and lots of good food. It’s going to be fun. The best part will be scalloping on Saturday. We harvest scallops using fins, masks and snorkels in the Gulf where the depth is about seven feet and the water is crystal clear. It’s a lot of fun and good exercise, and the scallops are delicious when they are fresh.
Well, I need to get myself a cup of coffee and answer some correspondence, and then I’ll run my final errands. So I will close this post by wishing all of you a great weekend. I won’t post again until Tuesday. Keep smiling, friends.
