Hi, friends and readers:
I’m up early this morning. My body clock’s still out of whack and I can’t seem to sleep past 7 A.M. right now.
Last night a friend came over and we watched Newcastle on DVD. I am telling you, it’s a “must see” film. The photography is spectacular and the young men in the film are beautiful. Even if you are not a surfing enthusiast, you will enjoy the movie.
On another subject … I don’t normally discuss politics on this blog. I leave that to others. But having just returned from three months in Europe, I am suffering from culture shock when I read my morning newspaper here in Florida. So many Americans have turned into spoiled and frightened individuals who want a risk-free life for themselves and their children, one that somebody else pays for. (“I can’t work; I’m disabled.”)
The American electorate is poorly informed and easily manipulated by corporate America, Fox News, and right-wing-nut talk radio.
Witness the current health care debate. Every other Western industrial nation has national health care. Why can’t we? Because the pharmaceutical industry, hospital corporations and the A.M.A. are pouring billions of dollars into advertising that opposes it. And why not? The present system is a cash cow for them. But it’s a total screw job for the consumer.
Nonetheless, the American public swallows the anti-Obama, anti-national health care propaganda — hook, line and sinker. (“I saw it on TV so it must be true!”) How pathetic …
Okay, rant over. Have a nice Friday, everyone.
