Hi, friends and readers:
You may recall that during mid-July 2009, while living in Berlin, I spilled wine on my very expensive Dell laptop that I’d owned for less than a year. The laptop immediately shorted out, and attempts by my friends in Berlin to revive it were unsuccessful, even when we installed a new keyboard shipped from New York to Berlin. I spent the rest of summer using a very slow “mini-laptop”, which really hampered my writing during the remainder of my stay.
When I returned to Florida September first, I contacted Dell and found out the laptop was under a three-year service contract, and they would fix the laptop for free. (Yes-s-s-s …) In the meantime, I had a nice desktop PC at home I could use for writing, reserach and correspondence.
My computer consultant called me yesterday and said my laptop had been returned from Dell to her. It’s been completely refurbished with new parts and it runs just like new, and all the data on my hard drive is intact. (Oh, yes-s-s-s …) So, she is bringing the laptop over to my place this evening. I couldn’t ask for a better outcome. Thanks, Dell!
The photo I posted here today was sent to me by a friend. I must say, it’s one of the more stimulating pictures I’ve posted in a while. Don’t you agree? Photos of handsome young men that are not posed and are taken by amateurs are, too me, always the best ones around.
Have a nice Friday, everyone.
