Hi, friends and readers:
This afternoon, someone sent me the photo I’ve posted here; it greeted me when I returned from the gym and I wanted to post it right away. Aren’t the boys cute? In a few years they’ll be handsome young men. They look like they’re having fun, don’t they?
The drive home from the YMCA this afternoon was kind of treacherous. The air temperature today was over eighty degrees F, while the temperature of the Gulf and the Intracoastal Waterway is probably below sixty. The result? Thick fog, especially out here on the island. I’m supposed to dine out with friends this evening, in the city. But I don’t know if it’ll be safe to drive after dark. It’s hard to see well. We’ll see …
I received some nice comments about this morning’s post, about the high school surfer from North Carolina who’s in the closet and scared to come out. Several guys expressed their sympathy for his situation, including one gay surfer, a college student, also from N.C., who says, “Tell that kid to hang in there. My life improved a lot after I went to college, where people are more open-minded. I found another gay student who surfs and he and I visit Outer Banks every other weekend, when conditions are good.”
Have a nice Wednesday evening, all.
