I know, I know … I haven’t posted regularly the past few days, and there’s a reason. My friend from Wisconsin arrived Monday evening. We had the best time together. We walked the beach, rented a power boat and visited an uninhabited island in the Gulf. We drank plenty of beer and wine. We watched sunsets. Each night, we walked to my neighborhood bar, where we shot pool or played Foosball. I lost every game, but what fun! This afternoon, I took him to the airport for his flight back to Milwaukee. Now, I’m feeling a bit sad; I wish he could have stayed longer.
It sure is quiet around here.
Today was the prettiest day we’ve had on the island since early November: sunny, about 76 degrees F, with no wind and not a cloud in the sky. The beach was packed with Spring Breakers and families. Everywhere, little kids built sand castles and dug ponds. I took an hour-long walk down there, then I took a three-mile run around four PM.
Right now, I’ve opened a bottle of beer and I am answering correspondence — all the e-mails I’ve neglected the past three days. I’m not sure what I’ll do tonight, beyond watching sunset.
Enjoy your Thursday evening, all.
