I always enjoy photos of guys getting naked outdoors. Walking around in your birthday suit with the sun shining on your shoulders is so … liberating. That’s what I think anyway.
Okay, the weather cleared up today, and though it’ll still be windy up at the fishing camp, I’ve decided to go. I’m taking a young friend up there with me; he loves the outdoors and fishing and he’s good company, so it’ll be fun. We’ll leave mid-day tomorrow.
Today I received an interesting comment from a surfer named Alan, age 22. He lives in Huntington Beach, CA. The pier there is a world class surfing break; it’s where the U. S. Open was held last year. Alan’s recently graduated from U. C. Santa Barbara, he’s presently waiting tables until he can find a “real job.”
Alan said, “I would call myself a hardcore surfer. I’m not afraid to charge big waves. I surf up and down the Cali coast. My favorite wave is Blacks near San Diego. The fact I’m gay I keep to myself, at least among my surfing pals. I don’t want to say that most surfers are homophobic. I don’t think that’s true. But there’s a kind of unwritten, don’t-ask-don’t-tell rule among surfers: ‘If you’re gay, fine, but I’d rather not hear about it.’ I can tell you there are plenty of gay men who surf. When I visit gay bars in my area, I’ve often run into guys I recognize from the lineup and it’s all cool.”
Thanks for writing, Alan. I hear El Nino gave you guys some nice waves this winter. Hope you caught a few.
Right now the sun is shining and the temperature’s around 75 degrees. I plan to watch sunset this evening, then finish [acking for the trip. Enjoy your Friday evening, all.
