I’m posting from my hotel room in Madison while my friend’s taking a little nap. The flight to Milwaukee yesterday was a breeze. My friend met me at the airport, then we spent the afternoon and evening in Madison, Wisconsin’s capital and location of University of Wisconsin’s main campus.
Madison’s a very nice city, about 70,000 people, very green with several large lakes in the center of town and many parks. Folks here really enjoy getting outdoors at this time of year because for many months it’s too cold to do things outside. Yesterday was sunny, with a high around 75 degrees F. We spent the afternoon touring the city and drinking several beers in our hotel room. We also visited Madison’s annual, outdoor “Bratfest”, where a large crowd was enjoying roasted brats and beer and listening to live music on three different stages. It was fun. Last night we dined in a very nice restaurant within walking distance of our hotel and right by the state capitol, a beautiful, domed building.
I’m not sure what we’re up to today. It’s another pretty morning outside and I’m sure that’s where we’ll spend much of our time. The people in Madison are very friendly, the streets are full of college kids and there are many things to do and see. Maybe we’ll go to the zoo? They also have a nice botanical garden here, and I want to visit UW’s football stadium. UW’s a Big Ten school and the students here are rabid fans. Everywhere you go people are wearing their red Badger t-shirts.
Enjoy your Tuesday, everyone.
