Cute boy at a swimming pool; chilly day on the island …

Hi, friends and readers:

Everyone like this morning’s photo post? It makes me feel warm inside: handsome young man, swimming pool, sunshine. Who bought him the ice cream cone?

Sadly, you wouldn’t want to jump in a swimming pool here on the island today. Yesterday afternoon a cold front swept into Florida, bringing chilly temperatures and cold, cold wind. (B-r-r-r-r ….)

What a change from Tuesday when the sun was shining in Cocoa Beach and people swam in the Atlantic in boardshorts. But this is typical for Florida; we have wide temperature swings this time of year. And, to be truthful, I welcome a bit of cold weather. Time to get the fireplace burning. Time to buy a Christmas tree and put up the decorations.

Our surfing excursion to Brevard County was an unqualified success. Wednesday morning was one of the best days I’ve ever surfed there: offshore winds, temperature around 72 degrees, and plenty of well-shaped waves. We had a blast, and hated to leave. But …  there’s work to be done back at home.

I’ll write this morning, take care of correspondence this afternoon, then take a run around four P.M.  Right now the wind’s blowing pretty hard but hopefully it will die down late this afternoon.

Enjoy your Thursday, everyone.
