It’s Memorial Day, time to slap on the sunscreen, put on your boardshorts, and hit the beach. You never know what you’ll see when you walk along the shore, but on our beach down the street there are always several young men who steal your breath.
Like, the guy in today’s photo post. How could someone possibly have a more beautiful body? Imagine what he’d look like wearing only a jock strap? Aye-yi-yi.
Our neighborhood’s pot luck dinner at the beach last night was better than we’d expected. About thirty people came, all bringing food and drink. There were little kids and college-aged guys and grandmas. Everyone brought lawn chairs and socialized. I ate entirely too much because the food was so good. The sun set around 8:15 PM and it was so beautiful. A breeze kept us all cool. I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate Memorial Day.
We stayed home last night and watched Bull Durham, my favorite baseball movie of all time. Kevin Kostner and Susan Sarandon were superb in their roles, so was Tim Robbins. I’ve spent a lot of time at minor league baseball parks, and the director of the film really captured the way things are in that subculture.
I’m not sure what we’ll do this afternoon, maybe visit the YMCA, since it’s too darned hot to exercise outdoors. Or maybe we’ll just stay on the island and behave like slugs. Wherever you are, I hope you’re enjoying Memorial Day.
