Cute boy in the bathroom; Berlin’s Panorama Bar sucks …

Hi, friends and readers:

What do you think of this morning’s photo post? When I came across it, I liked it instantly. He looks like he’s having a good time, doesn’t he?

We’re all up late, here in Berlin, today, since we didn’t get home this morning until around six AM. We had a great time in Friedrichshain, in the eastern part of the city. But our experience at Panorama Bar was awful. We arrived about two A.M. and got in line for the door. The line lasted about an hour. The whole time, these thug bouncers stood there telling groups of people they couldn’t come in. There was no rhyme or reason to it; it was totally random, like they were getting a charge out of sending people away. When we got to the door, the bouncer turned away a cute, young couple in front of us. Then they told us we couldn’t come in. No explanation why. Just, “Go away.” Great, eh? I mean, I’m not young, but my boyfriend and my friend Jens are in their twenties and they’re nice-looking. It didn’t make any sense.

So … my advice to anyone who visits Berlin is: don’t go to the Panorama Bar. Berlin has so many fun clubs to visit that are friendly and welcoming, and you don’t have to wait an hour to be told “go away.” Pardon my French, but fuck Panorama Bar. (Okay, I’ll quit griping.) We still had a great time in spite of our experience there. We found a nice little club with a good DJ and a great hamburger place where they cooked to order. The streets were full of people and everybody was in a good mood. Fun, fun!

I’m not sure what we’ll do today. The sky’s overcast, but it’s not raining, so maybe we’ll take a walk through the Greunewald, a nice forested park with a swimming lake. Wherever you are, I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday.
