Cute boy in a waterfall; sunny Wednesday on the island …

Hi, friends and readers:

Does everyone like this morning’s photo post? There’s nothing quite like passing under a waterfall, feeling it pound on your shoulders. Plus, it’s always fun to stand in the waiting line, with a bunch of dripping-wet guys in swimsuits. Go ahead: try it sometime. You won’t be sorry.

Speaking of dripping wet … Yesterday wasn’t a parti-cularly great day, here on the island, in terms of weather. The storm out in the Gulf kept throwing wind and rain bands at us all day. During one lull in the rain action, we walked down to the Intracoastal to sit on a bench, but the wind blew so hard it felt uncomfortable. So, we walked home and sat on our little front porch for a while. It was better than nothing.

Sometimes, I think people consider Floridians whiners when it comes to weather. And maybe we are. We expect sunshine every day. We don’t like it when the weather’s too hot or too cold. Our moods are easily affected by weather changes. We feel the need to get outdoors regularly. It’s how we are.

Today, the sun is once again shining. There’s a light breeze blowing and the birds are chirping. So, I’m in a great mood and ready to enjoy the day. I’ll work on my novel, Dodging a Pearl, this morning. Then my boyfriend and I will visit the YMCA for our workout, basketball, and lap-swimming. Tonight, we’ll join friends in the city for beer-drinking and dinner at a restaurant. Not a bad day, eh? I know, I’m the luckiest guy in the world.

Enjoy your Wednesday, everyone. I hope the sun’s shining where you are, too.
