Martin’s BDSM fiction. Why is it so popular?

Hi, friends and readers:

I don’t write a lot of fiction exploring the gay, BDSM scene, but I’ve published a smattering of tales involving the subject. Among them, my novella, Passion Play, published three years ago by Torquere Press. It continues to sell pretty briskly today. Here’s the blurb:

Reverend Luke helps put on the Passion Play at his church every year. Nearly eighty parishioners get involved and this year, and transplanted brothers James and Marcus Thibodeaux will be participating. James will play Jesus, but there’s a hitch; he’s deaf. His brother Marcus will act as translator.

James is beautiful and young, almost angelic in appearance and just the person to portray Jesus. Or is he? When Reverend Luke begins a relationship with Marcus, he discovers things about James that are hardly angelic. Can Reverend Luke convince James to be penitent and worthy of portraying Jesus?

Another story I wrote, Serving Lisa, was included in a four-story anthology, Spank Me Once. The book continues to sell, three years after its initial publication. Here’s the blurb for my story:

Lane’s a college student with a secret: he needs discipline from a mature woman. Visiting a website called Cruel Mistress, he finds a listing by a German couple, Lisa and Andreas. They seek a young man who “craves naked discipline” to “service the lady of the house.” When Lane responds, his life is quickly transformed in ways he’d never imagined.

Of course, there are also BDSM elements in my short story, Closet Case, included in the Cleis Press anthology, Best Gay Erotica 2011. And in my story, Slacker, which appears in my three-story anthology, Flawed Boys. Again, you can check out both books by clicking on their covers in the sidebar at right.

It’s time for our dinner guests to arrive, so I must run. It’s beautiful here tonight, perfect for entertaining with the doors and windows open. Have a nice Sunday night, friends.
