I received an interesting comment yesterday from Kenneth, a young man in Nashville, TN who says he spends “half his life” at his local BMX track. He said this:
“BMX is about the coolest sport there is. You might say it’s one of the gayer sports, because I have met many gay guys my age and older who are into BMXing. I met my boyfriend there. There’s a group of queer riders who hang together, when we’re at the track. No one gives us any shit. It’s cool. It’s been a long time since you posted an e-mail from a BMXer, so I thought I would write you. Thanks for the blog. It’s cool too.”
Thanks Kenneth. A while back I received a flurry of comments from gay BMXers and other BMXers who claimed there were no gay BMXers and that gay men/boys were not welcome at BMX tracks. Apparently not in Nashville ….
I eschewed my morning walk on the beach today. The weather’s too nasty — rainy, overcast, windy and chilly. This is the first bad weather we’ve had in weeks, so I’m not complaining. I’ll work on my writing this morning while my boyfriend reads. Then we’ll visit the YMCA for our usual workout routine. I’m not sure what we’ll do tonight, maybe visit our local gay club for a little dancing or go to a movie.
Have a nice Friday, everyone.
