Boys in blue plaid shirts. Martin’s in Gainesville today ….

Hi, friends and readers:

How come blue plaid shirts are so flattering to certain young men’s appearances? It’s a mystery, but I sure like the look. I think both guys in today’s photo posts look great in their shirts, don’t you?

I made the drive north to Gainesville yesterday, afternoon. Traffic wasn’t too bad, except for one stretch where I got surrounded by gigantic transfer trucks. I felt like I was driving in a canyon. I think my poor little Element was scared out of its wits, but we survived, and I enjoyed a super-nice evening with my boyfriend.

We shared breakfast this morning, and then he left for work. I took a one-hour walk through campus, an invigorating experience. The weather’s beautiful here today: about 72 degrees F, sunny and dry. Most kids I passed on campus wore shorts and t-shirts, with maybe a light sweatshirt they would likely shed by noon.

When I came home, I spent two hours working on my new novel; it’s coming along nicely, but I still don’t know how it’s going to end. Creative writing is a curious process. Sometimes, if your characters are good ones, they take over the story and tell the author how it will end. I’m not kidding.

I’m hoping my boyfriend gets off work early today. We need to take a special photograph for our Christmas card we’ll send out next week. We always choose a new place, and we always include our illuminated Frosty the Snowman in the photo. It’s a tradition ….

This evening, we’ll have a nice dinner at a restaurant here in Gainesville, someplace we have not tried yet. Then, tomorrow, I’ll return to the Gulf Coast and my responsibilities there. These visit always seem to short, but at least we get to see each other about once a week.

Have a great Tuesday, everyone. I hope the sun is shining where you are, too.
