Have a look at the two photos I have posted here tonight. I think both are quite special in their own way. Do you like them as much as I do? The young men in the photos are, of course, quite beautiful, but that’s not the only reason I find the photos unique.
Look at thew way the young man to the left is posed. His hair is disheveled, his pants are sagging, and he appears to be ripping his shirt open, very likely popping the buttons on it. And then look at the joyful expression on his face. What’s he so happy about? The answer to that question is, of course, left to the imagination. Okay, maybe it’s a Calvin Klein advertisement, but I don’t care. It’s a first-quality piece just the same. Now, where can I meet the model?
I’ve had a nice day, here on the island. I worked on my writing all morning. After lunch, I got my hair cut and visited the supermarket for a few items. Then my boyfriend and I spent a little private time before he departed for work. (Yum-m-m-m.) I even performed a bit of yard work after he left, trimming shrubs and palms, mostly. With the heat like it was, I could only stay out there about 45 minutes.
Okay, now look at the photo to the left. It’s a very old photo, taken at the Salem School, a very exclusive private boys’ academy in Germany. I don’t know who the photographer was, but he’s quite well known in Europe. Does anyone know?
I have seen the photo in art photography books at museums in Germany before. I am assuming this was taken in the bathing room at the school, probably in the morning before classes began. Don’t you love the expression on the young man’s face as he drenches himself with what is likely cold water? Priceless ….
That’s a nice butt on the boy behind him, too ….
* * * Update 8/1/2013: A reader, Nick, wrote to let me know the second photo was taken by an American-born artist named Will McBride, who has spent most of his life in Germany. You can see his work here: http://www.will-mcbride-art.com/ Thanks, Nick.
Okay, it’s well past five PM and I have just cracked open a cold beer, to reward myself for my productive day. I’m not sure what I’ll do with myself this evening, probably do a bit of reading after I dine on a tasty chicken with pesto dish I’ll prepare. Wherever you are tonight, I hope you’ll enjoy your Tuesday evening.
