About eight years ago I traveled by plane to Toronto, in the dead of winter, to visit a young man I’d met online. Of course it was freezing cold in Toronto, high of 30 F, low of 15 F, every day I was there. But I enjoyed my visit thoroughly. My host was a handsome and passionate guy and I loved the city. While I was there a saw a lot of young guy walking around in hats like the guys in today’s photo posts are wearing, and when I asked my host what they were called, he said, “They’re trapper hats. worn by men who snare wild animals in traps.”
After my return to Florida, I found a new boyfriend who eventually moved in with me and became my partner in life. I happened to mention the trapper hats I’d seen in Toronto and how cool I thought they were. My boyfriend bought me one for my next birthday that I still own, but I don’t look nearly as good in mine as the boy in the top photo does. Nice whitey tighties. 😉
Well, four of us gathered at my friend’s hunting camp about 120 miles north of hear. My friend owns 16 acres in the Gulf Hammock with a creek flowing through it. Huge trees and lots of wildlife. I brought some excellent steaks and Idaho potatoes for baking, and we enjoyed a fine dinner. We sat around an outdoor fire pit and enjoyed the absolute silence. I drove back with my friend who rode up there with me, and it all went very smoothly.
Now I am freshly showered and drinking a cold bottle of beer. I don’t have anything planned but that’s okay. I have tasty leftovers form my Tuesday dinner party, and maybe I’ll watch a Netflix movie later on. It’s chilly outside this afternoon, which I actually like, so I’m contented as can be.
Have a nice Thursday night, friends, and keep smiling. 🙂
