I have surfed since I was a teenager, and I admit I’m lousy at the sport, but I still enjoy it immensely, and I try to get over to the east coast of Florida once in a while, to get my board wet and enjoy the beauty of the Atlantic. Of course, one of the best parts of surfing is meeting the appealing young men who populate the lineup, waiting for waves, guys like the three in today’s photo posts.
Well, I spent my weekend up in Gainesville, where a friend and I spent two nights and attended the UF Gators v. South Carolina football contest. We drove up Friday afternoon and stayed in an Air BnB rental.
The entire weekend up there was a blast, but the football game–and I am not exaggerating–was the most exciting I have ever attended, college or pro. The Gators overcame a 17-point deficit to win 35-31, an incredible comeback. I attended UF four years as an undergraduate, and I have attended many Gator games, but never one like this. The stadium went berserk as the Gators took the lead, and the feeling was simply electric. Go Gators! 🙂
My friend and I visited student bars in Gainesville on Friday and Saturday nights, and we met a lot of friendly kids. My friend is straight, so he focused on the girls, while I enjoyed meeting a few of the boys. We had some nice meals, too.
I got home today around 3:00 PM, and after I unpacked I took a three mile walk on the beach for some exercise. Conditions were perfect: sunny, around 78 degrees, no wind and a nice walking surface. I am so lucky to live on this beautiful island.
I shared a couple of beers with my neighbor and friend, up on my deck right around sunset time, and the weather was so nice. Now I’m back inside and getting ready to whip up a tasty meal of stir-friend chicken with veggies I will team with a nice garden salad. I’ll watch a little football when I eat, and I think it’ll be an early bedtime for me. Keeping up with college students is hard work. 😉
Have a nice Sunday night, friends.
