My last boyfriend and I split up about two years ago, after we’d lived together nearly seven years. And while I don’t miss all the issues that ultimately doomed our relationship, I do miss the simple joy of waking up next to another guy, first thing in the morning. And I miss falling asleep in another guy’s arms at night.
Face it, you can’t beat having a boyfriend in your bed, and I’d be happy to share mine with any of the guys in today’s photo posts. I mean, check out Mr. Blondie in the upper photo. If I were lying next to him when the photo was taken, I would say, “Stay right there and I’ll bring you some coffee in just a few minutes.” 🙂
I spent a very pleasant evening at my friend’s last night. He had a lovely blaze going in the fire pit on his deck. The night was cool but not chilly, just right for December. After we drank a couple of beers we got takeout from our favorite pizza place, then dined indoors, where I finished a bottle of wine I’d brought with me. It was a fine evening, and I know my friend enjoyed it as much as I did. It’s hard to beat old friends, isn’t it?
I got home around nine PM, and I spent an hour with my fireplace lit, enjoying my Christmas tree and reading a series of letters I had written to one of my best friends during my college and law school days. We’re talking letters 40-45 years old, some typed, some handwritten. The friend I wrote them to died several years ago, and his brother found the letters when cleaning out his deceased brother’s house. He was kind enough to save them for me, and he gave them to me last week.
The letters, about a dozen of them, took me right back to the times I had written them, not all of them happy times. I was a terribly conflicted young man in my late teens and early twenties, but I muddled through the difficult times with the help of my friends, and once I discovered what I wanted from life, I was fine.
All right, everyone, I need to fix lunch before I drive into the city to visit the YMCA for a workout and lap-swimming session. Have a great Friday, wherever you might be today.
