My first partner and I used to live in a neighborhood full of young men who cruised our streets on their bicycles, often shirtless. It made for some interesting sights, especially when they’d stop to talk to us while we worked in our yard. But we never let them inside our house; we knew better than that, since some of them were horny and curious about two men living together. Boy, was that a long time ago ….
I spent a pleasant evening in the city with my oldest friend, and when I got home I climbed into bed with my James Baldwin book, which I am tiring of. There is so much anger in Baldwin’s early writings, and so much pain, that it wears me down when I try to read his stories.
I got up a little earlier today, which is a good sign, but still too late to get a lot done in the writing department. I read the newspaper and worked the L.A. Times crossword puzzle, and now lunch time is approaching. I’ll have something simple, then I’ll cruise into town to visit the YMCA for my usual workout and lap-swimming session. On my way home I’ll run a few errands, and then I will spend some time on my observation deck with a couple of cold beers.
It’s extremely windy here today, why I’m not sure, but at least the air temperature is cooler than it has been. 🙂
I have very little planned for my weekend, other than watching the Florida Gators play Tennessee in football. It’s a noon game, which I don’t really care for because it’s too early to have a beer, but I’ll still enjoy the contest.
Okay, everyone, I need to pack up for the YMCA, so I will close this post by wishing all of you a wonderful Friday, wherever you might be today. And keep on smiling, it’s important. 🙂
