It’s Thanksgiving Day, a time to step back from all the restlessness in our world and give thanks for the blessings we enjoy: good health, a rewarding job, a loving family, good friends and bountiful food. Of course, if you are especially lucky, you’ll be giving thanks for the wonderful boyfriend you are sharing life with, and how much he means to you. Be grateful for his love, his caring, and his quirky sense of humor that can make you laugh no matter how down in the dumps you are.
It’s a beautiful day, here on the island–sunny, still and dry and about 75 degrees F, perfect weather for Thanksgiving. After I have lunch, I plan to take a three-mile walk on the beach for some exercise, and then I’ll get busy on a Thanksgiving meal I will share with my oldest and best friend. I’m roasting a whole chicken, with my mom’s homemade stuffing recipe. I’m also making a classic green bean casserole. Around five PM, I will take the meal to my friend’s house, where we’ll spend some time on his deck, having a couple of drinks, before we dine.
It should be a nice evening, and I am sure the food will be just right. My friend lives alone and has no family, and my only family is a 65-mile drive from here, just too much for me to handle today.
All right, everyone, enjoy your Thanksgiving. Enjoy family, friends and good food, and if you are fortunate enough to have a boyfriend, give him a hug and a kiss, and tell him how much you love him. 🙂
