Sometimes it drives me crazy how young men these days are always walking around with wires coming out of their ears. I mean, I like music as much as the next person, but I also vale human interaction, and you can’t talk to people if you are blasting electronic dance music into your ears. And you can’t hear a bird singing or waves striking the shore. You are, in a sense, walled off from the aural world.
Oh, well, call me a curmudgeon, but sometimes I want to grab some of these youngsters and rip the damned things out of their ears. Maybe then they’d pay attention to their surroundings and perhaps avoid getting run over by a truck.
I spent a good deal of time enjoying my fireplace last night, after I finished a writing project that was closing in on deadline. I enjoyed a bottle of white wine with my dinner and I ended up going to bed relatively early, as I was tired from the gym. I slept until 9:30 this morning and woke feeling refreshed. I brewed coffee and enjoyed a nice breakfast, and then I solved the L.A. Times crossword puzzle, a tough one but I did it.
Outside, the sun is shining, but it’s only 57 degrees, and a breeze makes it feel even colder. I have a few household chores to perform, and I have to run errands–wine market, hardware store and meat market. Tonight, I’ll definitely build a blaze in my fire pit, and I’ll listen to music on my I-phone. (No ear buds.)
Have a great Saturday, everyone.
